So much has been happening in Route 81 since returning from the Easter break
We have a new guitar club on Fridays , prepared young people for moving on to Hermitage from primary school (in parnership with young carers) and raised £350 making cookies to feed 700 children through mary's meals. As well as fun in the hub on Fridays.
We also held a fantastic fund raiser with Centre 81 raising £250 towards our summer programme.
Our young people having a great time in the kitchen learning to bake cookies and selling them to raise money for Mary's meals.
9 young people are making cookies throughout May to fundraise to buy meals for children in 18 of the poorest countries in the world through the Mary’s meals feeding programme - helping children on the ladder out of poverty by providing one meal a day within schools.
Cookies are a minimum donation of 50pence and by buying just one you will feed 5 children a school meal or alternatively feed 1 child for 5 days! Imagine if you bought 2!
Donations of flour, eggs, caster sugar, butter are welcome….thankyou to the individuals who have already donated and to Morrisons Helensburgh for their donation shown in photo below.
We will be selling cookies at Centre 81 events , our car boot sale on the 21st and to family and friends. We are also taking pre+orders, so if you want one or think you could treat your colleagues or anyone else, pm this page or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - our target is for our 9 young people to feed 9 children for a full year (raise £180) - what an achievement that would be!
Next week we are making chocolate chip cookie and cherry cookies. Following week lemon cookies and white chocolate chip….we have a wee disclaimer….we had a test run…..your cookie may taste like a biscuit but it’s all about the effort! We will be pro’s soon!
Route 81 is reopening with lots happening in the run up to the summer holidays, we have a new Guitar Club, a thursday project " raising dough" to raise money for Mary's Meals and some great new fun items in the Hub such as an Air hockey machine and fabulous large screen TV. Come on down to check it out. If you're not a member you can collect a form from Centre 81 or down load one here
If you are interested in joining our volunteering scheme why not have a word with our team when you are in the Centre or message our fb page. This is a great way to make new friends, learn new skills and gain awards.
What a great day it was! We raised a grand total of£266.74 towards our summer programme for local young people. we also raised more funds for Mary’s’ meals (total being declared on Thursday) by selling our home made cookies and the legendary tablet, made by one of our young peoples parents. So many of you told us how much you enjoyed the event and would love to see another one . We have plans…..watch this space. Big thanks to all those who bought a table for the day and for those who came along and supported us ….you made it all worthwhile and we are all still buzzing!
